Sideboards come in many designs. The choice depends on your interior, your storage needs, and the available space.
Low Sideboard
A low sideboard has a height of approximately 60-80 cm. It fits perfectly under a window or against a wall without conduits. Above the sideboard, there's space for a wall mirror, a piece of art, or a wall lamp. A low model gives the room a calm, open feel and is ideal for smaller rooms or bedrooms.
Tall Sideboard
A tall sideboard (100-130 cm) offers more storage space and fills an empty wall impressively. With doors, drawers, and open compartments, you can store both functionally and decoratively. Ideal for large living rooms or as a dining room buffet.
Open vs. Closed Sideboard
An open sideboard provides an airy look and displays your decorations. A closed model with doors keeps clutter out of sight. Many of our models combine both: drawers and doors at the bottom, open compartments at the top.

Materials — Solid, Honest, and Sustainable
At Industrial Home, we consciously opt for materials that last. No particle board or cheap foil, but real raw materials.
- Mango wood: Warm, richly grained, with a unique pattern per board. Mango wood is a sustainable choice: it is a byproduct of mango production and does not need to be specially cut down. Our mango sideboards have a warm, rustic appeal that pairs perfectly with dark steel.
- Solid Oak: Strong, timeless, and value-retaining. Oak has a fine, clear grain and suits both modern and classic interiors. Available in natural, grey stained, or black.
- HPL (High Pressure Laminate): A strong composite material that is scratch-resistant and easy to maintain. Available in dozens of colors and wood decors. Ideal if you want a specific color that solid wood does not offer.
- Black Metal Frame: Powder-coated black steel adds a robust, industrial touch to any sideboard. Timeless and extremely stable.
Styles — Industrial, Scandinavian, or Rural
A sideboard must match the rest of your interior. We make sideboards in three main styles, each with its own material combinations and finishes.
Industrial Sideboard
Dark mango wood or black stained oak, combined with black steel frames and hand-forged fittings. Robust, powerful, with character. Each piece is unique due to the wood grain and handmade finish.
Scandinavian Sideboard
Light oak or natural mango wood, clean lines, minimalist fittings or entirely without fittings. The Scandinavian style exudes tranquility and functionality. Looks great in bright, modern interiors.
Rural Sideboard
Warm white or natural wood, sometimes with gold-colored or natural steel fittings. A rural sideboard gives your living or dining room a cozy, warm feeling. Combines well with linen curtains and a pine wood floor.

Combine with a Wall Mirror
A sideboard with a wall mirror above it is a classic. The mirror visually enlarges the room and creates a cohesive furniture ensemble. We recommend a mirror of the same width as the sideboard or slightly narrower for a playful effect. Choose a mirror with a black steel frame for an industrial sideboard or a round mirror for a modern-organic overall look.

Buying guide: choosing the right sideboard
- Standard height: 75-90 cm — practical as a sidetable and for a mirror above it. Lower (60-70 cm) creates a calmer effect in the room.
- Depth: 35-45 cm is standard. Deeper than 45 cm is difficult to fit into a narrow hallway or bedroom.
- Width vs. wall space: Leave at least 40 cm on both sides for visual breathing room. A sideboard that fills the entire wall looks heavier.
- Mirror above the sideboard: Bottom edge of the mirror approx. 10-15 cm above the top. Mirror width = 50-75% of sideboard width for good proportions.
- Storage space: Combine drawers (for small items) with doors (for larger storage). At least 2 drawers for daily use.
What width should I choose for my sideboard?
The most common width is 120-160 cm. This offers sufficient storage space without dominating. In a larger living or dining room, a model of 160-240 cm fits well. Always measure the wall and allow 20-30 cm of free space on both sides.
What is the difference between a sideboard and a dresser?
In practice, the terms are used synonymously. A sideboard is traditionally a lower piece of furniture with doors and drawers, intended for the dining or living room. A dresser is a comparable piece of furniture but often has a more modern look and slightly larger dimensions. At Industrial Home, both fall under our sideboard collection.

Which material is the easiest to maintain?
HPL and lacquered wood are the easiest to clean. Solid wood requires a bit more maintenance: protect it from water and grease with beeswax or furniture oil and regularly rotate the furniture a quarter turn so that the wood dries evenly. Mango wood is naturally quite robust.
How long does it take to deliver a custom-made sideboard?
Delivery time for custom orders is usually 4-8 weeks, depending on the model and workload. We will always inform you in advance of the estimated delivery date.
