Real marble or marble-look ceramic?
Marble is natural stone. A ceramic marble-look top uses a decorative design to evoke that appearance. How the surface is made, its pattern and its care requirements differ. On a ceramic table, a name such as Calacatta refers to the design and does not mean the top was cut from a block of marble.

A light design with visible veining creates a different accent from a dark or heavily patterned surface. Compare your choice with your floor, chairs and lighting. Repeat the base colour in the chair legs, for example, or combine the top with a calm solid-colour fabric.
A product photo and screen do not give an exact impression of colour or sheen. Before a showroom visit, ask which material samples are available. The finish and edge of your chosen model should be part of that comparison.
Choosing shape, size and base
A rectangular top provides a clear distribution along the sides. Oval and Danish rounded shapes change the seating space at the ends. The outer dimensions alone therefore do not tell you how many chairs fit comfortably. Use the sizing advice for six or ten people and mark your chairs around the top.
Match the table base to the size, tabletop construction and seating positions. Not every leg can be combined with every ceramic top. Available options are shown with the product or in the configurator.
Everyday care for a ceramic dining table
Remove spills promptly and follow the cleaning instructions for your version. Do not use abrasive products without checking their suitability. Protect the top with coasters and a chopping board, and avoid hard knocks against the edges.
Scratch-resistant is not the same as damage-proof. Surfaces and finishes can react differently to sharp objects, friction or a hard impact. We therefore make no general promise that hot pans can be placed directly on every marble-look table.
Frequently asked questions about marble-look dining tables
Is a marble look always ceramic?
No. HPL, for example, can also have a marble-effect design. The models on this page are ceramic. Compare tabletop materials if you would like to explore other options too.
Does a ceramic top need oiling?
A ceramic surface does not need wood oil. If the table has a wooden base, separate care advice may apply to it. Follow the instructions for both parts.
Are all marble-look tables available made to measure?
