Danish Oval Ceramic Dining Table — Timeless Design, Unbeatably Easy to Maintain

✓ Ceramic top — stain & scratch resistant ✓ Danish oval shape — maximum seating ✓ Fully customizable ✓ Free delivery & assembly NL, BE & DE

A Danish oval ceramic dining table combines two of the best decisions you can make for your dining room. The ceramic top is resistant to heat, stains, and scratches — you can place a hot pot on it, spill red wine, or cut directly next to it, and the top simply won't mind. The Danish oval shape adds something that is pure Scandinavian ingenuity: the flattened ends provide extra seating at each head, so a 200 cm table can easily seat 7 or 8 people. At Industrial Home, you can fully customize your Danish oval ceramic dining table — from the tabletop style and dimensions to the base and color.

Why Ceramic for a Danish Oval Dining Table?

Wood is warm and personal but requires maintenance. Fenix is matte and scratch-resistant but needs gentle handling. Ceramic is different: it has the allure of marble or natural stone — the veining, the depth, the luxury — but behaves like the simplest material there is. A wipe with a damp cloth is all you need.

  • Heat resistant — pots directly on the table, no need for rummaged coasters
  • Stain resistant — coffee, wine, olive oil: nothing leaves a trace
  • Scratch resistant — ceramic is harder than steel, the tabletop remains like new for years
  • UV resistant — the color does not fade, even with a lot of sunlight
  • Hygienic — the non-porous surface does not absorb bacteria or odors

Combine this with the elegant, space-creating effect of a Danish oval table shape, and you have a table that will last twenty years without ever looking old.

The Danish Oval Shape — What Makes It Special?

At first glance, a Danish oval dining table looks like a regular oval table — until you examine the ends. Where a standard oval tapers, the Danish oval shape ends in a flattened line. This flattening sounds like a minor detail, but the effect is significant:

  • An extra chair fits comfortably at each head
  • No guest is "cornered" — the corner seats are also comfortable
  • The silhouette appears cleaner and more architectural than a completely round oval
  • The shape combines the softness of an oval with the functionality of a rectangle

This is precisely why the Danish oval shape has been the most sought-after table shape by Scandinavian design studios for decades — and increasingly in German households as well.

Our Danish Oval Ceramic Dining Tables

Two models in our collection combine ceramic with the Danish oval shape. Both are fully customizable:

Dimensions and Seating

Thanks to the flattened Danish oval ends, the same length offers slightly more seating than a standard oval or a rectangular table. Guideline:

Length Width People Ideal for
160 cm 90 cm 4-6 people Compact dining room
180 cm 90 cm 5-7 people Family table — most popular size
200 cm 100 cm 6-8 people Large family, regular guests
220 cm 100 cm 7-9 people Large family or entertainers
240 cm 100-110 cm 8-10 people Large dining room, dinner parties

Guideline: allow 60-70 cm chair width per person. A little more for chairs with armrests.

Which Base Suits a Danish Oval Ceramic Dining Table?

A ceramic top has its own weight and presence — the base must support it, both literally and visually. The most popular combinations:

  • Vlinder Metaal — graceful, artistic, available in matte black, gold, or bronze. Creates a beautiful contrast with the light marble pattern of Calacatta.
  • Trias Eiche — three slender solid oak legs add warmth to the cool ceramic. Popular in Japandi interiors.
  • Trias Metall — clean three-legged metal construction in matte black or white, for a more modern look.
  • Matrix Eiche — organic, cross-legged oak base that enhances the Scandinavian character of the Danish oval shape.

Using the 3D configurator, you can see every combination directly — without having to order to know if it fits.

Ceramic Styles: Which Top is Right for You?

Calacatta Hermitage — Warm Marble

Inspired by the famous Calacatta marble from the Apennines: a warm white top, veined with gold and gray. Each top is unique. This is the choice if you want luxury and warmth without it appearing cold or harsh.

Paladium Ivory — Gentle Neutrality

A warm ivory ceramic with a subtle texture. Less pronounced than marble, but with the same elegance. Works particularly well in warm, neutral interiors with lots of wood, linen, or rattan.

Is a ceramic dining table suitable for outdoor use?

Ceramic is UV and moisture-resistant, but the base (oak or metal) is in most cases not specifically treated for outdoor use. For outdoors, we recommend contacting us — we are happy to look with you at which configuration works best.

Can I place a pot directly on the ceramic top?

Yes. Ceramic is resistant to temperatures up to 250 °C. You can place pots, oven dishes, and teapots directly on the tabletop without coasters. The top will remain undamaged.

How do I clean a ceramic dining table?

Wipe with a damp cloth and, if necessary, a little all-purpose cleaner. Scouring agents and steel wool are not necessary — and not recommended, as they can dull the top. For stubborn stains, a little vinegar water works great.

How heavy is a ceramic dining table?

A ceramic top is heavier than wood or HPL — a 200 cm table can easily weigh 80 to 120 kg. Our delivery personnel will deliver and assemble the table at your home, so you don't have to carry anything yourself.

Can ceramic crack or break?

Ceramic is extremely hard and scratch-resistant, but like any hard material, it can break if subjected to a very severe direct impact or blow to the edge. This is extremely rare in normal household use. Most customers use their ceramic table for years without any problems.

What is the delivery time?

Delivery time is usually 4 to 6 weeks. After placing your order, you will receive a confirmation with the estimated delivery date. Our delivery personnel deliver by appointment and assemble the table directly upon arrival.

Can I order a Danish oval ceramic dining table in a different size?

Yes. You can set the exact length, width, and height using the 3D configurator. Do you have a special format or a question about custom dimensions outside of the standard sizes? Please contact us — we are happy to think along with you.
