Danish Oval Dining Table — Custom Scandinavian Design
A Danish oval dining table is the most versatile table shape in Scandinavian design. At first glance, the shape looks like a regular oval table — but the difference lies in the ends. Where a standard oval tapers, the Danish oval shape ends in a flattened, almost rectangular line. Small detail, big effect: an extra chair fits effortlessly on each end. At Industrial Home, you can fully customize your Danish oval dining table — from material and color to base — and see it live in 3D.
Danish Oval vs. Regular Oval
With a standard oval dining table, the ends taper — beautiful, but the ends offer little practical seating space. With a Danish oval dining table, the ends are deliberately flattened:
| Feature | Regular oval | Danish oval |
|---|---|---|
| Ends | Tapered — little seating space | Flattened — comfortable seating |
| People at 200 cm | 6-7 people | 7-8 people |
| Silhouette | Flowing, classic | Sleeker, more modern |
| Style fit | Classic, country | Scandinavian, modern, Japandi |
Materials
Solid oak
The classic choice for a Danish oval dining table. The warm grain of oak combines perfectly with the organic table shape. Available in oiled natural, oiled white, smoked, and Tuscany (Mediterranean warm tone). Solid oak becomes more beautiful over the years and can be repaired for scratches.
Oak herringbone
For those who want something special: the herringbone pattern of oak gives the Danish oval table an extra dimension. The diagonal grain enhances the movement in the tabletop. Available in natural and smoked.
Walnut
Richer and darker than oak. The irregular grain of solid walnut makes each tabletop unique. Perfect choice for a warm, luxurious interior in combination with natural steel or copper legs.
Fenix
Matte, scratch-resistant, and anti-fingerprint. Small scratches can be repaired with heat. Ideal for families with children. Available in Nero Ingo (matte black), Bianco Kos (white), Grigio Bromo, and more — also in Danish oval shape.
HPL
High Pressure Laminate — scratch-resistant, heat-resistant up to 180°C, and available in dozens of decors: wood look, concrete look, matte black, sand, white. Good value for money for custom work.
Ceramic
Indestructible top that is resistant to heat, stains, and scratches. Available in marble look, concrete look, and solid colors. For those who combine maximum ease of maintenance with a modern design.
Bases
The base determines the character of your table. All models are available in black, white, natural steel, and brass:
Matrix — frame
Rectangular steel frame. Sleek and industrial. Most chosen for Danish oval tables in Fenix or HPL.
Cone — conical legs
Tapered legs of solid oak or steel. Graceful and light — perfect for Scandinavian design.
Sol — central foot
One central leg provides maximum legroom all around. Ideal for the Danish oval shape for 4-6 people.
Quattro — four legs
Four separate legs in an H-arrangement. Classic and stable, works in any interior.
U-frame
U-shaped frame with plenty of legroom on the long sides. Popular for larger tables of 200 cm+.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Danish oval shape so popular?
The combination of an organic, soft appearance with practical seating space at the ends. No one sits "in the corner" — you sit comfortably even on the narrow sides. This makes the Danish oval table ideal if you sometimes have guests.
Which material is easiest to maintain?
Ceramic and Fenix are the easiest: a damp cloth is sufficient, nothing soaks in. Oak and walnut are more beautiful but require annual oiling. HPL is in between.
What chairs fit a Danish oval dining table?
Due to the flattened ends, you can place regular straight chairs on the short sides. Choose chairs without armrests for maximum flexibility — with armrests, it's less likely to fit an extra chair.
Which base fits a Japandi interior?
Cone legs in natural oak or black steel. These give the Danish oval table a light, elegant look that perfectly matches the Japandi principle: functional, pure, and warm.
Can I request color samples?
Yes. Contact us via our contact form and indicate which materials you would like to see. We will send samples free of charge so you can compare them at home in your own light.
