What are the dimensions of a table for 10 people?

For 10 people to sit comfortably, a table of at least 240 × 100 cm is needed. Our guidelines:

• 240 × 100 cm — 10 people comfortably: 4 along each long side + 1 at each end
• 260 × 100 cm — 10 people generously, 12 people comfortably
• 280 × 100–110 cm — 12–14 people. Ideal for large families or hospitable homes
• 300 × 110 cm — 14+ people. The maximum for most living rooms

Rule of thumb: allow 60 cm per person along the long sides, 70–80 cm for the short ends. And ensure at least 90 cm of walking space around the table for chairs that are pulled out.

The 10+ person setup

For a table for 10 people, there are two common setups:

Fixed setup

All 10 chairs always at the table. This requires a table of at least 240 cm and a dining room of at least 350–380 cm wide (table + walking space on both sides). Always check the room diagonal for transport of a tabletop of this size.

Extendable setup

Daily use as a 6- or 8-person table, extendable to 10+ on occasion. This is a smart choice if you don't need the table for 10 people every day but want to retain that capacity. Bases for large tables

For a table of 240–300 cm, the base plays a crucial role in stability and style:

• Double — Two steel U-bases provide maximum stability for long tops. Also offers plenty of legroom on the sides.
• 4 or 6 legs — For extra long tables (>240 cm), we recommend 6 legs or an intermediate support for optimal flatness.
• Wooden trestles — Solid oak or walnut trestles give the table a warm, artisanal character.
• Industrial X-frame — Powerful steel X-bases for a robust, sturdy table.

Combination with dining chairs

A large table also requires matching chairs. Consider:

• Stackable chairs for when you extend the table for large gatherings
• Upholstered chairs for daily comfort (upholstery in fabric, velvet, or leather)
• Mixed setup: wooden chairs on the long sides + upholstered chairs at the ends
