What sizes are considered 'small'?

Coffee tables in the small category typically fall into these size categories:

• 60 × 60 cm — Square, compact. Ideal for a small seating area or a chair with a coffee table.
• 70 × 70 cm — Slightly larger but still compact. Fits a two- or three-seater sofa.
• 80 × 80 cm — Square model that also works for larger sofas but doesn't take up too much space.
• 60 × 90 cm or 70 × 100 cm — Rectangular small variant. For those who prefer an oblong table but want to keep the width limited.
• Round, Ø 50–70 cm — A small round coffee table is particularly space-saving because there are no sharp corners; there is more walking space around it.

Rule of thumb: ensure there is at least 40–45 cm of free walking space around the coffee table. In a small space, a table 60–70 cm wide is often the maximum that feels comfortable.

Types of small coffee tables

Small square coffee table

Square is symmetrical and calming. In a compact living room, a square table complements a smaller sofa well. You can walk around all four sides without bending or stepping. Suitable materials: solid oak, HPL concrete-look, black steel with glass top.

Small round coffee table

Set of two small coffee tables (side tables)

A clever solution for small spaces is a set of coffee tables that you can extend or stack as needed, consisting of two small tables in different sizes or heights. You can push them together for maximum compactness and spread them out when you need them. Ideal if you sometimes need more or less table surface. This principle is also known as a side table set.

Small coffee table with storage

In small living rooms, storage space is invaluable. A small coffee table with a drawer or lower shelf offers a hidden storage place for remote controls, magazines, or blankets. Our models with drawers come with a soft-close mechanism.
