As a rule of thumb, allow about 60 cm of table width per person. For 6 people - three on each long side - that gives a table length of 180 to 220 cm, with a width of 90 to 100 cm. The most popular size for six people is an oval dining table of 200 x 100 cm: roomy enough to give everyone their own place, yet not too big for an average dining room.
