The right lighting above your dining table: how to do it right
The dining table is the heart of the dining room. And the lighting above it? That makes or breaks the atmosphere. A well-chosen pendant lamp above your table pulls the space together and creates that warm, inviting atmosphere you want for dining.
How high should you hang a lamp above the dining table?
The ideal height is 70 to 80 cm above the tabletop. This way, you're not in the light, but you still have optimal mood lighting precisely on the table. For higher ceilings, you can hang the lamp a little higher — but never higher than 90 cm.
One lamp or several?
For a long rectangular table, two or three smaller pendant lamps in a row work beautifully. For a round or oval table, one large statement lamp is often the better choice. Think about balance: the lamp should not be wider than half the width of the table.
