Usage — Where to Place a Side Table?
Next to the sofa or armchair
The most classic application: a side table next to the sofa or an armchair. At the right height (armrest height of the chair or sofa), it functions as a convenient place to put your coffee, remote control, or phone. Choose a model that matches the style and material of your sofa set.
As a plant stand
A robust side table made of mango wood or oak is a beautiful pedestal for a large houseplant. Place the plant in a striking pot and combine it with a basket or decoration next to it. A plant table in a nice location by a window also works decoratively in the room.
As a lamp table
A floor lamp or reading lamp next to a side table creates a cozy reading nook or lounge atmosphere. The table provides extra space for a book, candle, or vase. Choose a slightly higher side table (55-65 cm) for an ideal lamp-height ratio.
As part of a coffee table set
A set of two or three side tables at different heights works perfectly as an alternative to a large coffee table. You can arrange, move, and use the tables separately as desired. Ideal in a smaller living room or if you want flexibility.
Types of Side Tables
Round side table
A round side table has a soft, organic look and fits well in modern or Scandinavian interiors. Round shapes also work well in small spaces because there are no sharp corners. Popular diameters: 40, 45, and 50 cm.
Square side table
A square or rectangular side table has a cleaner, more industrial character. It fits well with a sleek interior or next to a corner sofa. Sizes vary from 30x30 cm (compact) to 60x60 cm (larger model).
Set of 2 or 3 side tables
A nesting set of side tables consists of two or three tables that slide underneath each other. Super practical: store them compactly, pull them out when guests arrive. At Industrial Home, nesting sets are also available custom-made — choose the height, diameter, and material of each element yourself.

- Mango wood: Warm, full of character, with a unique grain. Each tabletop is different. Combined with a black steel frame, it's a true Industrial Home classic.
- Solid oak: Sleek, strong, and timeless. An oak side table fits into almost any interior. Choose natural or dark stained for a different ambiance.
- Metal: A fully metal side table (steel, powder-coated black or copper-colored) is ultra-strong and has a robust, industrial look. Low maintenance.
- Wood/metal combination: Our most popular combination. A solid wooden top on a black steel base. Warm and sturdy in one.
Height and Dimensions — What Fits Best?
The height of a side table depends on its use. As a side table next to the sofa, choose a height that matches the armrest height (typically 55-65 cm). As a plant stand, it can also be lower (40-50 cm). For a lamp table, choose slightly higher (60-70 cm).

The most common height is 50-65 cm. This is also the height of an average sofa armrest. For use next to an armchair or as a plant stand, lower models (40-50 cm) are also common.
What is the difference between a side table and a coffee table?
A coffee table is central in the seating area and typically has a larger surface area. A side table is smaller and stands to the side or next to a chair/sofa. Several side tables can together form an alternative to one large coffee table.
Can I use a side table as a plant stand?
Certainly. Choose a robust model made of solid wood that can withstand some moisture. If necessary, place a coaster under the plant pot. Mango wood and oak are very suitable for this.
