A bar table with stools is comfortable when the table and seating are well matched. Start with the height, then measure the available width between the legs and finally choose materials and upholstery. This helps you create a bar area for breakfast, drinks or everyday meals.

What stool height suits a bar table?
As an initial guide, allow around 25–30 cm between the top of the seat and the top of the tabletop. This does not guarantee a suitable combination: the thickness of the top, any rail underneath and your sitting posture determine the actual legroom.

For an existing table, also measure the height to the underside of the top. For example, a 68 cm seat height and a 93 cm tabletop height give a 25 cm gap between their top surfaces; the clear space beneath that top is smaller.

The width of the stool, including armrests, matters more than a fixed number of stools per table length. Three stools measuring 60 cm wide already take up 180 cm, without any gaps. They therefore will not fit comfortably side by side along one side of a 160 cm table.
Measure the clear space between the table legs and mark out each stool within it. A cross frame can restrict foot space even when the tabletop edge is wide enough. Want four seats at a compact bar table? Check whether seating on two sides is possible and whether the passage remains clear.
With a backrest, armrests or a swivel seat?
- Backrest: comfortable for longer sitting; check how far the stool sticks out when pushed in.
- Armrests: compare the armrest height with the underside of the table. They often make a chair wider.
- Swivel seat: useful for getting in, but requires room to turn without hitting the table or wall.
- Footrest: try whether your feet are properly supported at the chosen seat height.
Matching materials and colours
Repeat a base colour in the bar chairs, for example, or combine a calm tabletop with a textured fabric. For the top, see the material comparison. Available fabrics, colours and sizes vary by model; customisable upholstery does not mean every seat height can also be freely adjusted.

Are the stools included with the bar table?
Check what is included with the selected products and in your basket. A standalone bar table does not automatically include stools. Bar chairs may also be sold individually or in packs of several chairs.
Can a bar table with stools be used outdoors?
Choose both a table and stools explicitly specified for outdoor use. A ceramic or wooden top alone does not make the whole combination weatherproof.
How do I choose stools for my existing bar table?
Note the tabletop height, clearance underneath, clear width and position of the base. Send those measurements with a photo for advice. Before a showroom visit, discuss which bar chairs you would like to try.
