Choosing the Right Bar Stool

The most crucial factor when choosing bar stools is the height. Your choice depends entirely on the height of your bar or kitchen island. The two standard heights are:

• Seat height 65 cm: Suitable for bar tables or kitchen islands 85–90 cm high. This is the most common height for kitchen bars in Dutch homes.
• Seat height 75 cm: Suitable for a higher bar or counter of 100–110 cm. Popular in open kitchens with a raised kitchen island.

General rule: there should be at least 25–30 cm of space between the seat of the bar stool and the tabletop of the bar. Do you use your bar as both a workspace and an eating area? Then choose a stool with adjustable height (gas lift).
