What is the standard height of a dining table?
When choosing a dining table, the height is just as important as the length. If the table is too high or too low, you will never really eat comfortably. But what is the standard height of a dining table, and what should you look out for?
The standard height: 75 cm
The standard height of a dining table is 75 cm, measured from the floor to the top of the tabletop. This is the most comfortable height for most people and suits standard dining chairs.
Which chair height goes with it?
A 75 cm table goes with chairs that have a seat height of 46 to 48 cm. That leaves roughly 28 to 30 cm between the seat and the tabletop - enough legroom, even with an apron or armrests. Read more about combining table and chairs.
Other table heights
- Bar table - 90 to 110 cm, with bar stools of 65 to 80 cm seat height
- Coffee table - 35 to 45 cm, roughly level with the seat height of the sofa
